At the same time, based on the results of allergy reactions, different allergy shots are used for the treatment. When it comes to the immunotherapy, it is made of pure allergens that fight against the problem causing allergens.

On the other hand, the purified allergens to treat allergic reactions are selected based on the type of causes and test results.

How does it work?

The main purposes are to change the effects of the allergic reactions on the person. In addition to that, when the presence of allergens on the increases, allergy shots help your body to generate more antibodies, but in the required amount only. During the treatment, people feel changes on the allergy reactions and get reduced symptoms on the body.

Allergy shot treatment

As I said before, this treatment is selected based on the type of allergic reactions. So, once the cause of the allergic reaction is found, then a corresponding allergy shot treatment such as immunotherapy is used to treat the allergens.

  • For the first 3 to 6 months, 1 or 2 shots of allergen are used for the treatment and it produces antibiotics and increases it slowly.
  • After completion of the shot for 3 to 6 months, a patient needs to take this on the monthly basis for 3 to 5 years. In this time, the allergen on the body increases in high level.
  • After completion of 3 to 5 years treatment, if the patient completely cured of the allergy reactions, then they can stop the treatment.

Side effects

As like as all other medications, it also results in mild to severe side effects. The mild and most common side effects are redness, swelling, and increased allergy symptoms such as rash, runny nose and more.

There are less common but most severe side effects such as anaphylaxis and it shows the following symptoms to identify whether a patient suffered from anaphylaxis or not.

  • Swelling of the tongue
  • Wheezing
  • Skin irritations and itchiness
  • Loss of conscious
  • Rapid heartbeat
